Please book your air so you are scheduled to arrive no later than 9:45 AM at FCO on June 25, 2020. If you need help, contact Joan at 614-436-9343. Call our office at 863-382-9603 or email email@example.com for more details.
Day Two. Thursday, June 25, 2020: Stepping into Paul’s World
Flights should plan to arrive no later than 9:45 AM into Leonardo da Vinci Airport, as our group bus will pick up arriving participants. After our transfer to the hotel to drop our luggage, we will visit nearby Ostia Antica for a walking tour in the ancient ruins. Carefully examining the excavated areas, we will look at the key features of Roman identity and begin to “settle in” to what a Roman in “class-layered society” experienced daily at the time of the New Testament. Walking ancient streets and peering into ancient homes, shops and communal areas, we will begin to embrace the magnitude of reaching that world in the first century. Overnight: Universo Plus Rome. (D)
Day Three. Friday, June 26, 2020: How Paul passed the Torch of Ministry.
Today we visit Rome to look at Paul’s visits and criminal defense before Nero. We will explore the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, and a visit to Osteria Romana in the region of St. Paul alla Regola, near where Paul likely stayed during the writing of his so-called “prison epistles.” Later, we will make our way to the place that recalls Paul’s execution while considering his words to Timothy. We also want to see some of the physical evidence in the progress of the Gospel in the early centuries at the Catacombs. Overnight: Rome. (B)
Day Four. Saturday, June 27, 2020: The Gospel in Art.
Today we will look at St. Peter’s Cathedral, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel to discern how the Gospel affected the world in western artistic traditions. In the afternoon, we will transfer to the ship at Civitavecchia for our cruise departure. Overnight: On ship (B,D)
Day Five. Sunday, June 28, 2020: The Bay of Naples - Uncovering the Biblical Past.
Most of what we know about the Roman period was derived from the excavations of seven sites around the Bay of Naples that were all destroyed about twelve years after Paul’s last visit to the region by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Today we will visit Herculaneum and Pompeii. (B,D)
Day Six. Monday, June 29, 2020: At Sea – A Study of Paul’s Epistles
While at Sea today along the Tyrrhenian Coast of Italy, we will use our time on board for Bible study in the writings of the Apostle Paul. Stay tuned for the specific topics!
The following descriptions are from Celebrity.com website:
Days Seven. Tuesday, June 30, 2020: Florence, Pisa, La Spezia
La Spezia, which lies between Genoa and Pisa, and is just minutes to the east of Cinque Terre-the five fishing ports that enjoy National Park status-is home to the Palio del Golfo, an annual boat race that sees the Gulf of Poets; 13 historic villages face off against one another in celebration of the annual Festa del Mare. The town also offers fantastic shopping opportunities, as well as plenty of trattorias to enjoy local, Ligurian cuisine.
Day Eight. Wednesday, July 1, 2020: Monte Carlo, Monaco
Monaco means yachts, roulette wheels and ocean views — the epitome of Mediterranean class and opulence. Cruise to Monaco to play a round of blackjack at the famous Monte Carlo Casino, and while you're there, check out its delightfully over-the-top Beaux Arts exterior and its lavish marble atrium. Pay a visit to the Palais du Prince, the 13th-century fortress where the Principality's current royal family resides. Want to spend your time in Monaco outdoors? Do some sunbathing at Larvotto Beach — the golden sands of this urban beach are just a short walk from the upscale shops of Avenue Princess Grace.
Day Nine. Thursday, July 2, 2020: Cannes, France.
Cannes, France- With long boardwalks, massive yachts anchored in the harbor, and sunny plazas, Cannes personifies the charismatic French Riviera. Its balmy climate, deep blue Mediterranean waters, and views of the magnificent Alps in the distance, have made this city an alluring retreat for wealthy aristocrats since the mid-1800s. Today, the once small fishing village is world-renowned for its annual film festival and luxurious shopping.
This unequivocal playground for the rich is the perfect locale to splurge and pamper yourself accordingly on your French Riviera cruise. And as you stroll the palm-shaded Promenade de la Croisette, you’ll find a wealth of boutiques filled with gorgeous haute couture and deluxe garments for fabulous keepsakes and souvenirs. A short distance away from the promenade you can pick up a few provisions at the Marché Forville, a great indoor food market with a fine selection of the freshest oysters, French cheeses, bread, olives, and much more for a ravishing lunch on the beach. Afterward, hop a ferry to both Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat Islands for some light hiking or visit Fort Royal where the story of the Man in the Iron Mask originated.
Day Ten. Friday, July 3, 2020: Palma De Mallorca, Spain.
This island enclave is often described as a mini-Barcelona, with a Gothic feel that has overtaken centuries of Roman and Moorish culture. Visit El Baluard, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, which was built on the site of the remnants of the 16th century Bastio de Sant Pere, or shop for bargain pearls at the city's many jewelers.
Day Eleven. Saturday, July 4, 2020: Barcelona, Spain.
Formerly a sleepy Spanish city, Barcelona has recently been reborn as an eclectic fusion of the modern and medieval. This coastal city exudes European charm and welcomes multitudes of travelers every year. It’s a major destination with must-see architectural gems that date back some 2,000 years. You’ll encounter fascinating examples from the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, the Modern masters like Gaudî, and many Cataluñian greats. Outstanding art museums can be found throughout the city, proudly displaying the works of world-renowned artists and countrymen, including Goya, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalî, and Joan Miró. For a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city center, venture to the awaiting Mediterranean Sea and all the seaside has to offer. Maybe a brisk hike in the nearby forest covered Collserola Hills or the hilltop in Montjuïc with its botanical gardens is the perfect recharge for a rollicking evening in one of the premier party capitals of the world. Round out your cruise to Barcelona dining at a tapas bar and savor a variety of delicious small dishes to share—from traditional Spanish to the more innovative.
