Day One: Monday, December 2, 2024. Departure Day.
Depart AVL airport just before noon for our journey that will bring us to Tel Aviv, Israel. If you can’t sleep on the flight, look over your notebook for the program and ask the Lord to open your heart to an experience beyond your expectations!
Day Two: Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Arrival Day.
Arrive in Tel Aviv, Israel. Transfer to our hotel for a good meal and night’s rest. Overnight: Tel Aviv area. D
Day Three: Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Four Conflicts in the Background of the Gospels:
Today’s study focuses on four key conflicts in the background of Jesus' public ministry. Sites include: Caesarea Maritima, Mt. Carmel, drive through Valley of Armageddon, Zippori (Roman villa with Mona Lisa of Galilee), Nazareth (cave homes from the time of Jesus). Overnight: Near the Sea of Galilee. B,D
Day Four: Thursday, December 5, 2024. How Jesus Taught:
Focusing on the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels and the way they expound on the Hebrew Scriptures, we will climb the heights of the Golan and travel with Jesus on a series of withdrawals where Jesus taught His twelve. Sites include: Tel Dan, Golan Heights, Views of the road to Damascus, Qatzrin, view of Gamala. Overnight: Near the Sea of Galilee. B,D
Day Five: Friday, December 6, 2024. Characteristics of the Disciples:
Using the four gospel accounts, we will investigate the hints on the background, education and theology of the disciples. Sites include: Mt. Arbel, Mt. Beatitudes, Capernaum, Magdala (ancient synagogue, and women of Jesus’ ministry), Ancient Boat exhibit, boat ride. Overnight: Near the Sea of Galilee. B,D
Day Six: Saturday, December 7, 2024. The Perean Ministry of Jesus:
We will discuss the issues of the Perean Ministry, with particular examination of Luke 10-19, the "special section" of this account. Sites include: Beth Shean (major excavations of a Decapolis city), Jordan Valley, Jericho, Qumran caves. Overnight: Jerusalem. B,D
Day Seven: Sunday, December 8, 2024. Messianic Expectations and Disappointments:
After an overlook of the city of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives we will visit Gethsemane, and then deal with the subject of Jesus' birth. Sites include: Mt. of Olives, Gethsemane, Bethlehem, Shepherd's Fields, Church of the Nativity (conditions permitting). Overnight: Jerusalem, B,D
Day Eight: Monday, December 9, 2024. The Temple Authorities and Jesus
Visit to Gush Etzion Memorial, Neve Daniel vineyards (John 15), Old City Jewish Quarter (Cardo, Broad Wall, Herodian mansions), Western Wall Plaza, South Wall steps. Overnight: Jerusalem. B, D
Day Nine: Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Jewish Questionings and Roman Trials of Jesus:
The arrest, trial and conviction of Jesus will be our subject as we journey through the "salvation geography" of Jerusalem in the Gospel according to John. Sites include: Temple Mount, Pools of Bethesda, Via Dolorosa, Holy Sepulchre, Garden Tomb (with communion). Tonight, we may transfer to the airport (if we have the night flight) after dinner for our return flight. If the flight is scheduled early day ten, we will depart the morning of December 11. Overnight: In flight. B,D
